APSU offers premium and secure Wi-Fi services to the education sector

APSU, leader in the delivery of IT services, is assisting schools, colleges and universities with the consultancy, design, implementation and management of Wi-Fi networks.

Schools are under increasing pressure to deliver Wi-Fi as more students bring in their own phones, tablets and laptops in order to assist with studies.

But the education sector is coming under fire for unsatisfactory Wi-Fi deployments, which are causing pupils to miss out on all-important resources.

In fact, only a quarter of schools are achieving fully accessible Wi-Fi, suggests the British Educational Suppliers Association (Besa). Adequate Wi-Fi is essential if the UK is to embrace the move towards transforming education with digital learning schools, according to Valerie Thompson of the E-Learning Foundation.

APSU is able to assist the education sector with range of network requirements. A proven high level methodology of Consult, Design, Implement and Manage stages, means APSU’s accredited consultants are more than equipped to help.

As a long-standing Cisco Premier Partner with advanced specialism in security and wireless, APSU has also become a Meraki partner, providing for the first time centralised cloud management right out of the box with Meraki’s unique easy to deploy, headache-free BYOD network devices.

One college already feeling the benefits of Meraki is Cirencester College, which rolled out full Wi-Fi coverage across a 14-acre campus, with more than 100 Meraki wireless Access Points (APs) installed in two weeks.

The college, which provides sixth-form education to around 1,800 students studying a diverse range of academic, vocational, recreational and skills-related courses, had previously deployed Netgear APs, which were not satisfying requirements.

The latest deployment has allowed pupils to optimise their resources and improve their studies by accessing reliable, secure Wi-Fi.

Chris Boyes, Director of Technical Services, APSU said:

“As schools experiment with allowing pupils to bring their own devices such as smartphones and tablets to school, Wi-Fi to needs be working optimally and secure. Amid this requirement – which is only increasing – we have the skills and reputation to meet the education sector’s needs.”

With a foundation of network infrastructure and experience of integrating cloud solutions, the APSU network consulting team is able to assist customers with lifecycle services in each area or within a hybrid of the two.
