Dewhirst Group migrates to APSU’s IBM i Cloud high availability service

Dewhirst Group Limited, global leader in clothing manufacture and sourcing, has migrated to a cloud delivered high availability service for its core business platform, IBM’s mid-range server, Power i.

The service is delivered by APSU, an IBM Cloud Premier Business Partner and forerunner of cloud services for Power Systems (formerly AS/400, iSeries and System i) since 2005.

Dewhirst Group joins a growing number of companies who are realising the future of business continuity through cloud services. Those who safeguard their businesses using cloud are seeing benefits including lowered costs, reduced management overheads, and CapEx reduction.

APSU, the leading IT services provider, recently secured a top 20 spot in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 following record sales growth. The company’s exceptional growth over the last three years is primarily due to the development and deployment of its unique, cloud based, managed IT services for companies across all industry sectors, using the IBM Power and Wintel platforms.

John Kerry, IT Executive at Dewhirst Group Limited, said: “During our discussions with APSU, it became evident that its technical expertise in Power i and cloud services were a natural fit for our organisation. Their Virtual Server Recovery for IBM i (VSRi), was affordable compared with our existing solution providing significant annual savings. APSU also comes recommended by IBM, so migrating to the cloud high availability service for i was an easy decision for me.”

Paul Bromelow, Managing Director of APSU said: “Financial considerations are often an obstacle when considering a high availability solution for Power Systems. Our Virtual Server Recovery for i is more affordable than an in-house offering, and more effective than conventional cold start solutions. The cloud model we have designed provides affordability and expertise from the start, with no capital outlay. An increasing number of companies are recognising cloud is now a viable option and this has been reflective in our record sales growth.”

John Kerry added: “The transition to APSU’s cloud service was seamless and extremely well managed. With APSU now managing and providing cloud high availability for our existing IBM i environment, our IT team are able to focus on projects to improve service to the business and our customers.”
