Samworth Brothers’ Ginsters selects APSU for high availability software maintenance

Ginsters and Samworth Brothers Distribution, division of Samworth Brothers Ltd, have selected APSU as partner for the provision of Vision Solutions’ MIMIX software maintenance and support.

The choice was based on APSU’s strength and knowledge in IBM Power i, as well as its pedigree for managing System i high availability under licence with IBM and through client direct agreements.

James Beezley, APSU’s Director of Operations said:

“There is no other IBM business partner with our experience in managing high availability environments and performing system role swaps. APSU helped develop the Vision Solutions European and UK market and we use OMS/ODS and MIMIX software to deliver our core Disaster Recovery solutions. Providing Vision maintenance for these products is a natural extension of our day-to-day services, managing high availability for the Power i platform.”

Samworth Brothers Distribution is one of 13 businesses under the Samworth Brothers Ltd. umbrella, which also includes prominent British brands such as Ginsters and Mrs Beeton’s. As a group, it produces chilled products from sandwiches, salads and ready meals to desserts and cooked meats.

The distribution arm of Samworth’s operates out of modern facilities in Leicester, Cornwall and Bristol, providing an extensive range of temperature-controlled distribution services to the manufacturing sites of the Samworth Brothers Group as well as many external customers. Samworth Distribution supplies all of the major supermarkets in the UK as well as leading forecourts and convenience stores.

APSU is Europe’s leading high availability specialist for the iSeries or Power i, with the highest number of accredited support personnel in both Power i and Vision Solutions’ high availability product sets, OMS/ODS and MIMIX.
